U12 camogie blitz – 19/5/18

Report by Bridget Brennan

Our U12’s travelled to Thomastown on Saturday the 19th May for their latest blitz. On a lovely sunny morning the first game played was against St. Martin’s. This was a brilliant match and our U12’s ran out winners here on a scoreline of St. Brigid’s 2-4 to St. Martin’s 1-1.

In the second game of the day our opposition was Glenmore. The girls played with great determination and in a tough encounter they were unlucky to lose out on a scoreline of Glenmore 1-2 to St. Brigid’s 1-0.

Congratulations to our U10’s who started off their year with a hugely successful Go Games Blitz in a sunny Kilmanagh this morning. The girls contested in three very competitive games against St.Martin’s Muckalee, Tullaroan and Freshford.

The girls gave everything they had on the pitch this morning and showed great promise for this season. A special word of thanks to the parents who provided refreshments for the visiting teams and who helped out in the kitchen. Thanks also to Amy O’Brien who was great to help us out refereeing and Maurice for having the pitch and dressing rooms ready for us. Much appreciated!

U12 Camogie Blitz – Kilmanagh

St Brigid’s U12 camogie team hosted their own blitz today Saturday 3rd of May at home in Kilmanagh. There is a panel of 22 girls this year and 15 outstanding girls came today to play for the U12’s of St Brigid’s.

Two very hard games were played against formidable opposition. First up was Dicksboro playing 12 minutes a-side. In the second game we were up against Freshford, this proved to be a very hard game but the girls played with great determination and heart throughout.

To all the girls today you were only brilliant! We would like to extend a big thanks to our referee Mary Murphy East for officiating the games so well and also thanks to Maurice Ronan for setting out the pitch for us. A big thanks also to all the parents who helped prepare the tea and refreshments. Thanks all, here’s to our next match, St Brigid’s abú!

U11 Blitz – Saturday 21st April 2018

Report by Olivia Hogan

What a glorious day to start the Under 11’s hurling season in the Boro at the CBS Secondary School blitz and despite the results not going our way, the performance of the boys was as bright as the day that was in it.

The first game against John Locks saw our first goal belted into the net by Cian Ronan.
Eastie then made a fine clearance from the backs that would have surely resulted in a score only for his quick reaction. Corms Neary showed that he could not only stop the scores in goal but when outfield could pop them over the bar too. Even with the heat of the day, the cool heads of Ben McEvoy and Michael Tynan were dazzling.
