U14 A Camogie Semi Final v Glenmore 15/9/18

Our U14s travelled to Hugginstown on Saturday last 16th September to face Glenmore in the Roinn A Semi Final. Our girls made a promising start to this match and hard work from our midfield meant a good supply of ball into the forward line which started to reap dividends. At half time they held a strong lead but more hard work was needed in the second half to build on this. From numbers 1-24 this team had leaders all over the pitch and played with great heart and determination to qualify for a well earned spot in the Roinn A Final! Read more

U12 Camogie season draws to a close

Our U12s have now finished up after a busy year. This team showed great skill and determination and gave some brilliant performances throughout the year. We started off with a few games of blitzes where the girls were often tested against tough opposition but always played to the end and as a team performed well. After our initial round of blitzes we moved on to our League games. The girls really enjoyed these matches and some courageous displays were often matched with some great results! The tackling and team work continued to improve throughout the year and we are all very proud of how these girls developed over the year. Well done to all for the hard work and brilliant team displays, these girls will no doubt be future stars for St. Brigid’s Camogie Club! St. Brigid’s Abú!

JJ Kavanagh Junior B Hurling Championship Final – GBC v O’Loughlin Gaels

The Final of the JJ Kavanagh Junior “B” Hurling Championship Final took place in Nowlan Park on last Sunday 9th September. It was a repeat of the Junior League Final pairings and as GBC and O’Loughlin Gaels took to the field, a close contest was anticipated by the large attendance.  These expectations were vindicated in the opening quarter as both teams struggled to find scores. Slowly GBC got the better of the exchanges and build up a seven point lead coming close to the half time break. Read more

M Lyng Motors IHL 4th Round – GBC v Tullogher Rosbercon – 2/09/2018

Report by Philomena Brennan

After last week’s defeat it was a quick turnaround to the next round which took place in Ballyhale on Sunday 2nd September.  GBC‘s opponents were Tullogher –Rosbercon who were positioned just above them in the league table. GBC played very well for the majority of the game but it still took a late point to give them a four point cushion going into the closing stages. While the opening exchanges were close GBC seemed to be performing better in all areas of the field and were worthy first half leaders on a score of GBC 1-12 Tullogher Rosbercon 0-8.
