Graigue Ballycallan played Freshford in Tullaroan on Saturday morning last 9th September in the U16 Hurling County Final, against a hugely talented opposition, the lads gave their all but it wasn’t to be and they lost out on a scoreline of St. Lachtain’s 6-15 GBC 2-12.

Graigue Ballycallan 2-18 Rower-Inistioge 1-16
Graigue Ballycallan defeated the Rower Inistioge on Sunday evening 3/9/2017 to qualify for the County Final in an epic encounter. Huge credit to both teams who provided great entertainment to a large gathering who had rushed from their couches after watching the All-Ireland Finals.

Well done to Stephen Keoghan and the Kilkenny U16 Squad on winning the Arrabawn Tournament in Tipperary on Saturday 26th August. They beat Tipperary in the Final on a scoreline of 3-21 to 2-10.

Graigue Ballycallan 3-22 Cloneen/Railyard 0- 8
Graigue Ballycallan ran out comprehensive winners against Cloneen/Railyard in Palmerstown on Monday 7th August in the Championship 1st Round. After an uncertain few minutes the lads settled in and raced to an early lead thanks to great link up play in the forward lines. On the night the backs dealt with any attacks at ease and kept their opponents to shooting from distance. Read more

Graigue Ballycallan 4-6 Rower-Inistioge 0-11
Graigue Ballycallan finished out their busy League schedule with a little silverware after getting the better of southern stronghold Rower-Inistioge in the Shield Final. The game was played in very difficult conditions with persistent rain falling all through, but this was certainly not to dampen the enthusiasm from both sets of players.

Graigue Ballycallan 2-9 Mullinavat 0-13
Graigue Ballycallan U16s finished out a hectic League campaign when they travelled south on Bank Holiday Monday evening to play Mullinavat. Still struggling with injuries they set out to finish on a high note after succumbing to their first league defeat to Danesfort in the previous days. This game had taken a lot out of the lads and it showed in the early exchanges where Mullinavat were on top and had the better in many sectors on the pitch. Read more

Graigue Ballycallan went the short journey to Danesfort on Thursday evening to play their Hurling League Round 5 in a top of the table clash. Both teams had managed four wins from four up to this so they locked horns to see who would gain the local bragging rights. Read more

Graigue Ballycallan 1-13 Lisdowney 0-10
Graigue Ballycallan U16s travelled north on Bank holiday Monday evening to play Lisdowney in Round 4 of their league campaign. The players knew what was in store as they had competed in some classic encounters in years gone by and were well prepared for the challenge ahead. Quick to start we created some impressive plays and opened up a five point advantage with 15 mins played, thanks to tidy shooting from Scott Lawlor, Jack Butler and Oisín Egan. Read more

Graigue Ballycallan 3-14 Tullaroan 2-12
Graigue Ballycallan ran out comfortable winners against neighbours Tullaroan on Friday evening in splendid sunshine. The game was played in true sporting style in ideal conditions and Graigue were quick off the mark and registered some well worked scores through Oisín Egan, Scott Lawlor and Jack Butler. After 15 minutes they had raced into an 8 point lead and held this advantage to the break. The mentors who are always keen to use their panel made some switches and Sam, Bill, Mark and Euan joined the fray in the second half and no doubt will give Philly and Tommy plenty of headaches come team selection in the coming weeks with 3 league games to play.

Graigue Ballycallan 1-13 Tullogher Rosbercon 1-6
Graigue Ballycallan hosted southern club Tullogher Rosbercon on Monday evening and done enough to collect the 2 League points on offer on the night. The game was played in very difficult conditions with a strong swirling breeze and persistent showers making it very difficult for both teams to get any kind of flow to their game. The local boys played wind assisted in the first half and got off to a swift start with some fine individual scores from Oisín Egan, John Muldowney and Scott Lawlor and led 6 points to no score 15 mins in. A mix up in the Tullogher defence then led to a fortuitous goal and the lads eventually went into the break 1-10 to 2 points in front. Read more

Graigue Ballycallan 6-14 Galmoy/Windgap 0-7
Graigue Ballycallan U16’s got their League campaign off to a bright start with a comprehensive victory over Galmoy/Windgap on Monday evening in Tom Ryall Park.
The game was played in ideal conditions after a nice break in the weather, the pitch had recovered nicely and this no doubt led to the very high standard of hurling on the night. This group have a busy campaign with 4 more League games to be played within the next 3 weeks so will need to keep up the good attendance at training and are looking forward to injured players Kevin Ging and Brendan Dunne rejoining the panel soon once fully fit.
