As we fast approach the State Exam season and match play has been suspended for all those who are sitting the up-coming Junior and Leaving Certificate, it is perhaps an opportune time to report on the club’s U-16 team season to date.
In 2014 this group of boys had a great year which culminated in a Roinn B County Final appearance, losing out to a highly fancied Bennettsbridge team. Read more

Graigue Ballycallan U10’s travelled to O’Loughlin Park on Thursday 12th May to play their third competitive match and in what turned out to be hard fought win against an O’Loughlin’s team who were spoilt for choice in the amount of lads that they could field.
This win was at the back of a heavy defeat the previous week from a well-structured Dunnamaggin side who came up to Kilmanagh on Thursday 5th May. But a point worth noting was that GBC were leading and in cruise control for the first period when both teams had to play ground hurling as they held their shape, kept play moving and allowed the ball to do all the work. An 18 strong U8 panel played 3 matches on an overcast morning in St Kierans college on Sunday 8th May 2016GBC minors took on Thomastown in Tom Ryall Park last Wednesday in the third round of the league. After two losses to city teams, a win was badly needed to boost morale and build some momentum in this league, prior to the exam break. With only five minutes on the clock, a Thomastown forward broke loose and picked his spot from close range. Bill Cuddihy brought off a great save, avoiding an early setback. Read more

Graigue Ballycallan competed in the Roinn A Hurling Feile Qualifiers on Saturday morning in Ballyhale. They produced some of their best hurling of their year so far to beat Tomastown 3-8 to 2-1, O’Loughlin’s 1-10 to 2 points and finishing all square with Mooncoin 1-5 to 2-2. This put the boys top of their qualifier group and set to play James Stephens in the Feile Semi-Final in Clara at 12.30pm on Sunday. A great achievement for all involved with GBC being the only country club to qualify for the Semi finals.

Graigue Ballycallan U14s continued their busy spell with a visit from Erins Own to Tom Ryall Park for Round 3 of the Hurling League. Unfortunately mother nature wasn’t kind and the game was played with a biting gale force wind with a downpour of hailstones halfway through to compound the difficult conditions. Read more

On the 23rd of April the mighty under 10’s played their first practice match of the year against The Rower and even though they showed signs of rustiness they did not fail to deliver and won confidently with a scoreline of 5-4 to 1-1.

Graigue Ballycallan U14s visited Grennan in Tomastown on Friday 22nd April for the 2nd round of the Hurling League. Both teams were coming off the back of first round defeats and were very keen to make amends and collect the 2 points on offer. Read more

Graigue Ballycallan U14s got their league campaign underway on Friday 15th April 2016 when Mooncoin visited Tom Ryall Park . Our boys were very slow to settle on the night and the southern boys marched into an 8 point lead without breaking their stride. It took a few scores from the hurls of Oisín Egan and Paddy Brennan for the boys to finally realise they were in a game. The half time whistle blew with the scores at 2-4 to 6 pts in favour of Mooncoin. Read more
