We have a very busy weekend of hurling coming up.
First up on Saturday 1st December we take on Portlaoise in the AIB Intermediate Hurling Championship Leinster Final. Throw-in is 1.45pm in Nowlan Park and we would like to wish the players and management team the best of luck and hopefully bring some more silverware back to the parish.
On Sunday our Junior B Hurlers will travel to Kileedy GAA Club in Limerick to take on Oylegate Glenbrien of Wexford in the Junior B Hurling Series Leinster Semi Final. Throw-in is 2pm and we would like to wish players and management the best of luck.
Our club was very well represented in the Junior Scór which was held in Langtons on Saturday 24th November. We had 3 acts in the competition – the Trad group of Chloe Teehan, Joanne Brennan, Robbie Tector, Frank McCluskey, Michael Tynan and Emily Tynan, The Table Quiz team of Frank McCluskey, Robbie Tector and Michael Tynan and in the Solo singing competition we had Molly Conroy. All acts performed brilliantly with 2 acts coming 1st in their category, these acts will now go forward to the Leinster competition. Big congrats to Molly Conroy winner of the Solo singing and Frank McCluskey, Robbie Tector and Michael Tynan, winners of the Table Quiz and we wish them the very best in the Leinster competition!
Best of luck to our Intermediate Hurlers who head for Kennedy Park, New Ross, tomorrow, 17th November 2018 to take on Fethard St. Mogue’s of Wexford in the Leinster Intermediate Club Semi Final. Throw-in 1.30pm, please support the lads as they try to qualify for the Leinster Final!
As the dust settles on what has been our biggest fundraiser to date we reflect on what an amazing community we live in. The whole parish bought into this event which was to raise funds for the development of the facilities in Tom Ryall Park, Kilmanagh for Graigue Ballycallan GAA Club and St. Brigid’s Camogie Club. Massive effort was put in by the 10 acts who entertained us on the night and massive effort was put in by the Organising Committee who ensured everything ran so smoothly on the night. A special thanks to Tracy Millea who pushed this idea from the very start and could foresee that it would be a winner. We will have a more detailed report and some more photos in the coming days but for now a massive well done and thanks to anyone who helped with or supported this event in any way!
What a day Sunday 28th October 2018 was, the Michael Lyng Motors Intermediate Hurling Championship Final will be remembered for many years to come. The day our wonderful Intermediate hurlers stepped up to the mark and won against our neighbours Tullaroan on a scoreline of 2-16 to 2-13. We looked like we were dead and buried in the 28th minute when we were 9 points down but the lads put in a fantastic 2nd half performance to win by 3 points. Well done to the players and management team for giving us a year to remember!

The Final of the JJ Kavanagh Junior “B” Hurling Championship Final took place in Nowlan Park on last Sunday 9th September. It was a repeat of the Junior League Final pairings and as GBC and O’Loughlin Gaels took to the field, a close contest was anticipated by the large attendance. These expectations were vindicated in the opening quarter as both teams struggled to find scores. Slowly GBC got the better of the exchanges and build up a seven point lead coming close to the half time break. Read more
