A BIG THANK YOU!!

Graigue Ballycallan GAA Club and St. Brigid’s Camogie Club would like to say a massive thanks you to everyone who helped out in any way on Sunday at our Family Fun Day. While the weather wasn’t too kind to us, it did not deter the goodwill and determination of all present to make the event as big a success as possible.

Thanks to all the volunteers who helped out on the day in any way, those that were in the kitchen doing trojan work, those on different stalls or on the inflatables etc.
Thank you to all our sponsors and to everyone who made donations of prizes and cakes, buns and sandwiches.
A huge thanks to everyone who put in so much work to prepare the timber. 90 loads were auctioned in all so all the hard work paid off!
And thank you very much to all who turned up on the day even though the weather wasn’t the best!

We will have lots of photographs up on the website and Facebook page in the coming days.

GOOD LUCK COLUM!!

Colum receiving his U16 cap this summer

The club would like to wish one of our juvenile members, Colum Prendiville the very best of luck as he heads off to Macedonia on Monday 18th August for the European Basketball Championships. Colum will be part of the U16 Irish squad competing in the European Championships between 20th and 30th August.

The weeding out process for this Irish squad has been going on since October 2012 and Colum had to go through a series of tough trails to get to the final 12. He is a very talented player and has won his place on the squad through sheer hard work & dedication. Colum is a member of the Kilkenny Stars Basketball club and has played at all juvenile grades for Graigue Ballycallan GAA Club and we hope to have him back hurling with us in the future.

The other teams in the same group as Ireland are: Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary and the Netharlands. Ireland will have to play all of these teams in pool games and depending on how they get on will determine how they progress in the competition. There are 22 teams from all over Europe taking part.

It’s a huge honour for Colum to represent Ireland and Kilkenny and his parents Martin and Deirdre and sister Laoise must be so proud of him. Colum is also grandson of long-standing trustee of our club, Billy Malone.  GOOD LUCK COLUM!

Best of Luck Eamonn!

Best of Luck to Eamonn Butler, Club Juvenile Communications Officer who is part of the Irish Athletics Team taking part in the IWAS World Junior Games in Stoke Mandeville, England from 2nd to 8th of August. Eamonn will be participating in the shotput and discus events.
