Junior A Hurling Championship 1st Round – GBC v Tullaroan – 6/8/2019
Graigue Ballycallan played near neighbours Tullaroan in the first round of the Junior A HC on Tuesday last 6th August. The large crowd were treated to a good open game with both sides eager to reach the quarter final. GBC made the better start and quickly built up a four point lead, which in fact they were never to surrender throughout. GBC dominated in most areas of the field and with their good combination play went into the break leading by six points.

Junior A Hurling League 6th Round – 7/6/2019 – GBV v Mooncoin
The sixth round of the JJ Kavanagh & Sons Hurling League took place in Kilmanagh on Friday last 7th June. Mooncoin were GBC’s opponents. With state examinations in full flow, both sides were missing several players from their panels. Despite this both sides served up an entertaining display.

Junior A HL 4th Round – GBC v Carrickshock 3/05/2019
The Junior A team continued their winning campaign last Friday 3rd May when they travelled South to take on Carrickshock in Hugginstown. With the return of a couple of players from injury and illness numbers were good and GBC went into the match with confidence. This confidence looked somewhat premature as it was Carrickshock who had the much better start. They quickly built up a 1-3 to 0-2 lead before GBC settled down. With each side matching one another score for score it was not a surprise that the teams went in at half time all square on a score of 1-9 each.

Junior A Hurling League 3rd Round – GBC v Young Ireland’s 27/04/2019
The Junior A team’s second outing (Rd 1 v Erins Own yet to be played) saw GBC take on Young Ireland’s in Tom Ryall Park on Saturday 27th April. GBC were missing at least eight players due to illness and injury but even so put up a spirited display from the throw in. Guilty of some wayward shooting the GBC side should have been more in control of the game from the start and were disappointed to be a point behind at the interval.

Junior A Hurling League 1st Round – GBC v James Stephens 13/4/2019
The GBC Juniors had their first League match last Saturday evening 13th April, in a cold and blustery Larchfield. There are eleven teams in the group which will mean this group of players will have ten matches over the coming months.

Junior B Update

The Junior B Hurling League has commenced and GBC had their first outing against Emeralds of Urlingford last Tuesday 8th May 2018. The locals were to prove too strong on this occasion and recorded a comprehensive victory to pick up their first two points in the competition.
Final Score: GBC 5-23 Emeralds 0-12

Well done to our Junior A hurlers who had a good start to the year with a win in Ballyragget in the first round of the league. It was a hard-fought game with just a single point in it at the final whistle.
