Report by Martin Delahunty
Graigue Ballycallan   2-9     Mullinavat   0-13

Graigue Ballycallan U16s finished out a hectic League campaign when they travelled south on Bank Holiday Monday evening to play Mullinavat. Still struggling with injuries they set out to finish on a high note after succumbing to their first league defeat to Danesfort in the previous days. This game had taken a lot out of the lads and it showed in the early exchanges where Mullinavat were on top and had the better in many sectors on the pitch. Read more

Intermediate HL 2nd Round – GBC v Glenmore – 5/5/2017

Report by Philomena Brennan
The second round of the Michael Lyng Intermediate Hurling League took place in a wind-swept Piltown on Friday 5th May last. Following GBC’s recent defeat to the Fenians this was a must win game as the GBC team took to the field. As expected the first half was very much dominated by the extremely strong breeze which proved very hard to manage as the game progressed. While GBC had the better of the early exchanges scores were hard to come by and following misses from both sides the first score came in the thirteenth minute. GBC led by 0-4 to Glenmore 0-2 coming up to half time but a lapse in the GBC concentration resulted in a well taken Glenmore goal. Glenmore tacked on another point but GBC responded with a late point and went into the break GBC 0-6 Glenmore 1-5. Read more

Intermediate HL Round 1 – GBC v Fenians – Sat 22/04/2017

Report by Philomena Brennan

The first round of the Intermediate Hurling League took place in Tullaroan on Saturday 22d April last. Graigue-Ballycallan’s opponents were the Fenians of Johnstown who had been relegated from the senior ranks late last year. Darragh Egan, team captain, led a team which included three from the club’s minor ranks who were making their debut. The first half was a tough encounter with both teams prone to some errors. However, GBC had the better of the exchanges and while only taking a one point lead into half-time, the fact that the majority of their tally was from play, hopes were high for a good second half. HT Score: GBC 0-7 Fenians 0-6. Read more

Report by Martin Delahunty
Graigue Ballycallan 3-14          Tullaroan  2-12

Graigue Ballycallan ran out comfortable winners against neighbours Tullaroan on Friday evening in splendid sunshine. The game was played in true sporting style in ideal conditions and Graigue were quick off the mark and registered some well worked scores through Oisín Egan, Scott Lawlor and Jack Butler. After 15 minutes they had raced into an 8 point lead and held this advantage to the break. The mentors who are always keen to use their panel made some switches and Sam, Bill, Mark and Euan joined the fray in the second half and no doubt will give Philly and Tommy plenty of headaches come team selection in the coming weeks with 3 league games to play.

U16 Roinn B HL Round 2 – 3/4/2017 – GBC v Tulloger Rosbercon

Report by Martin Delahunty
Graigue Ballycallan 1-13        Tullogher Rosbercon 1-6
Graigue Ballycallan hosted southern club Tullogher Rosbercon on Monday evening and done enough to collect the 2 League points on offer on the night. The game was played in very difficult conditions with a strong swirling breeze and persistent showers making it very difficult for both teams to get any kind of flow to their game. The local boys played wind assisted in the first half and got off to a swift start with some fine individual scores from Oisín Egan, John Muldowney and Scott Lawlor and led 6 points to no score 15 mins in.  A mix up in the Tullogher defence then led to a fortuitous goal and the lads eventually went into the break 1-10 to 2 points in front.
