U21B Hurling Championship 1st Round – GBC v Young Irelnd’s – 05/11/2017

The first round of the Roinn B U-21 Hurling Championship took place in St. John’s Park, Kilkenny on Sunday 5th November last. Graigue-Ballycallan’s opponents were Young Irelands, Gowran. Past encounters between these two protagonists over the last few years have always been tight affairs and the GBC management expected nothing different on this occasion. Read more

On behalf of the Graigue-Ballycallan GAA Club, I would like to take this opportunity to express my thanks to everyone who wished us well in the recent Michael Lyng Motors Intermediate Hurling Final. While our efforts fell a little short on the day, it was an occasion savoured by club and parish alike. When the final whistle was blown on the day of the Semi-Final, thoughts immediately turned to County Final Preparations. Read more

The wait is over

The seventeen year wait is over!!

After a somewhat slow start to the season, a threat of Relegation and an injection of youth coupled with some great experience Graigue-Ballycallan have now earned their place in the Michael Lyng Motors Intermediate Hurling Final. However, at half time in last Sunday’s encounter with a highly fancied Glenmore, there was not many in the large attendance in Nowlan Park who would have envisaged the result.

Intermediate HC Quarter Final – GBC v Thomastown – Sun 24/09/2017

After a great victory against St. Lachtain’s, GBC travelled to St. John’s Park with a quiet confidence to face League Champions Thomastown in the Michael Lyng Motors Intermediate Quarter Final. Conditions were more akin to a July evening and the conditions most definitely lent themselves to a great game of hurling. The large crowd in attendance were treated to a competitive game which kept them enthralled to the final moments.

U12 Billy Fennelly Memorial Tournament – Sun 24/09/2017

On Sunday 24th September the Club was privileged to hold the Annual Billy Fennelly Memorial U12 tournament. We had four teams competing our, own GBC boys, Young Ireland’s, Dicksboro and Ballygunner of Waterford. There was four cracking games with GBC beating Young Irelands on a score line of 2-8 to 2-3 while in the other Semi-Final Ballygunner prevailed in extra time over Dicksboro in an epic Semi Final.

Intermediate Hurling Championship 1st Round v St. Lachtain’s – 16/09/2017

The eagerly awaited First Round of the Michael Lyng Intermediate Championship took place last Saturday 16th September in a rain sodden Jenkinstown. The importance of this match was not lost on all present as a defeat would ensure the losers a place in the Intermediate Relegation Final, a place no one wanted to be. St. Lachtain’s got off to a dream start and had 1-1 on the scoreboard in a matter of minutes after GBC conceded an early penalty.

Family Fun and Sports Evening – Saturday 2/09/2017

The Annual Family Fun Day which was postponed recently due to inclement weather took place on Saturday evening last 02/09/2017. Despite the postponement, a large crowd turned up in Tom Ryall Park, Kilmanagh to support the club’s fund-raiser. The club had been busy since early morning as the first ever Billy Malone Memorial U17 Camogie Tournament was in progress. The tournament has been established to honour the memory of Billy, a great supporter of camogie in Kilkenny and who was also a trustee of the hurling club.
