O’Loughlin Gaels U7 Hurling Blitz

We had a thoroughly enjoyable day at the O’Loughlin Gaels U7 Blitz on 22nd June.

Well done to all 29 hurlers who played their hearts out over the course of the day. Everybody got to play 3 games which were played in fantastic spirit and with great enthusiasm. Both parents and mentors were delighted with their efforts and the boys were thrilled with their well deserved medals.

As part of the 50th Anniversary celebrations of the founding of the Graigue-Ballycallan Gaa Club, you are all cordially invited to Tom Ryall Park, Kilmanagh on Friday 5th July for a summer barbeque with events for the children, music and reminiscences.

Proceedings will commence at 7pm sharp with the celebration of an open-air Mass to officially open our evening.

There will be a myriad of different activities for the younger of our members which will include hurling, rounders , speed tests, piñatas and for the first time ever a water dunk event (several well know faces are queuing up to act as victims!!!)

The ever popular barbeque will cater for all appetites and of course the old reliable cuppa will be available in the kitchen.

So come to the pitch on Friday 5th July, meet old faces and a lot of new ones as we come together to acknowledge the last 50 years in our club’s history and look forward with great anticipation to the next half century.

U13 B Hurling League – GBC v Mooncoin

GBC U13’s played Mooncoin in Round 2 of the Roinn B League in Tom Ryall Park on Friday last 28th June. Again this young team came up against a bigger physical side but they refused to take a step back. Mooncoin opened with a pointed free but GBC responded with a well taken goal from Aidan Ging to go ahead early. It was end to end for most of the first half with both defence’s on top, in particular Ben McEvoy was excellent between the posts for GBC. After going 15 minutes without scoring, a late ’65 and a long range shot from No.6 Aidan Comerford  dropped under the crossbar and gave GBC a lead 2-3 to 0-4 at Half Time. Read more

U13 B Hurling League 1st Round – GBC v Kilmacow – 10/6/2019

GBC opened their U13 Roinn B League campaign against Kilmacow at sunny Tom Ryall Park recently. These boys have been training together with U11s since late February in preparation for school’s and club matches. They’ve played 4 challenge matches over the last month with mixed performances so the management team were unsure how the opening match would go against a physically bigger Kilmacow team.

Vision 2020 Development Update

As many of you are aware the Graigue-Ballycallan GAA Club has embarked on an ambitious plan of development of the facilities in Tom Ryall Park. Last year, the roof of the complex was totally replaced and a new mower purchased. Several grant applications have been submitted to various Funding Bodies and we expect to hear how and if these applications have been successful by the end of the summer. A Full Planning Permission application for the proposed new building and walkway was also submitted to Kilkenny Co Co. A request for further information and clarification of some aspects of our application has been requested by the Council and we are dealing with this request as we speak. Read more
