On Sunday afternoon last in Tom Ryall Park, GBC played St. Martin’s in the Junior B hurling league. Playing with a strong breeze in the first half GBC held the upper hand around the middle, with Eoin Corcoran, Conor Hogan and Eamonn Egan dominating.
However, scores were very hard to come by and at half time GBC had only two points from play (Paddy Dalton and James Gleeson). The addition of three pointed frees from Philip Heafey left the half time score GBC 0-5, St. Martin’s 0-5.
The second half developed into a points shoot-out, with Tommy and Eamonn Egan, James Gleeson, Paddy Dalton and Eoin Robinson getting in on the act. Padraig Murphy and Joey Corcoran cleared their lines well. Late in the half, Phillip Heafey finished well to the net, for the defining score of the match.
The final score was GBC: 1-12, St. Martin’s 0-13.
