Graigue Ballycallan U15’s came out on top again Wednesday evening last in John Locke Park Callan after a hard fought battle with a strong Dicksboro side that last year pipped them at the post to take the Féile title.
Although it was a 5 goal win for the men in blue the two teams were more evenly matched then the scoreboard would suggest at the end.It was Sean McGrath between the posts that proved to be the main difference between the teams on the evening pulling off a few tricky saves along with saving a penalty in the first half that would have brought Dicksboro right back into the game.
At the other end Aaron McEvoy, Ryan Corcoran and Jake O’Brien combined well to notch up the decisive goals.
The half forward line of Martin Brennan, Paidí Egan and James Casey chased hard and fought for every ball, all three having a great game with the latter two taking a point a-piece from play.
Ryan Cody and Jeff Neary had a great game in midfield both getting forward for their scores over the hour.
The backs hurled well as a unit with every one of the six coming out on top in their individual battles.
Billy O’Neill also slotted over 5 long range frees on the night.
Aidan Cahill, Eoghan Cahill and Tony Butler done well when they joined the action.
Final Score: Graigue Ballycallan 5-14 Dicksboro 0-14
They are now through to a County Final against James Stephens in Dunmore next Saturday (5th Sept) morning at 11am.
Best of luck for the final lads!!
