As many of you are aware the Graigue-Ballycallan GAA Club has embarked on an ambitious plan of development of the facilities in Tom Ryall Park. Last year, the roof of the complex was totally replaced and a new mower purchased. Several grant applications have been submitted to various Funding Bodies and we expect to hear how and if these applications have been successful by the end of the summer. A Full Planning Permission application for the proposed new building and walkway was also submitted to Kilkenny Co Co. A request for further information and clarification of some aspects of our application has been requested by the Council and we are dealing with this request as we speak. The requirement to adhere to planning laws has to be observed and in this climate of increased regulation we can only proceed if and when Full Planning Permission has been granted. Likewise, with the Grant Process, we have to satisfy several conditions before the grant can be drawn down and only then can we erect the new safety nets on the pitches. We are nearing the completion of this process and expect to commence the work shortly. The main dressing rooms will be closed down in the coming week, having served the club well since 1995! They will remain closed for three weeks while a total refurbishment takes place. We look forward to their re-opening and will post pictures of the progress on our website for all to view.
The preparations for our 50th Anniversary are also well under way and we will be announcing how we plan to celebrate our foundation over the coming week. Keep an eye on the Club Website and the Acorn for all the details.
