After last week’s defeat it was a quick turnaround to the next round which took place in Ballyhale on Sunday 2nd September. GBC‘s opponents were Tullogher –Rosbercon who were positioned just above them in the league table. GBC played very well for the majority of the game but it still took a late point to give them a four point cushion going into the closing stages. While the opening exchanges were close GBC seemed to be performing better in all areas of the field and were worthy first half leaders on a score of GBC 1-12 Tullogher Rosbercon 0-8.
Things still went their way in the early stages of the second half and by the 43rd minute had built up a commanding 13 point lead. GBC expected a fight back from their opponents and Tullogher duly obliged, and with an unanswered 1-4 by the 52nd minute, GBC seemed to be under a little pressure. This pressure increased with another goal from Tullogher with a minute remaining in normal time and the lead had been cut to 3 points. GBC steadied the ship with a late free and were delighted to hear the final whistle, which saw them take the spoils on a full time score of : GBC 2-18 Tullogher Rosbercon 2-14.
Scores: C.Murphy 0-12 (0.08 fs), B.Ryan 1-1, W.O’Connor 1-0, S.O’Dwyer 0-2 S.Butler, S.Ryan and T.Dunphy 0-1 each.
The final round will be against St. Lachtains in Urlingford on the 15th September 2018.
