Report by Philomena Brennan
After winning the League Title earlier this month, GBC went straight through to the Championship Semi-Final were their opponents were Mullinavat. In an entertaining match in John Locke Park, Callan last Tuesday evening GBC were slow to get off the mark and it was their southern counterparts who looked the livelier of the two.
In fact, that GBC took a one point lead into the interval, surprised most in the crowd present. However, GBC upped their performance considerably in the second half and with the defence really performing well, the forwards started to flex their muscles and scores began to mount up. Mullinavat did not give up easily and when the difference was reduced to 5 points GBC had to dig deep and as a result ran out worthy winners on a final score of: GBC 1-21 Mullinavat 0-16
Scores: C. Murphy 0-12 (0-8 fs), E. Brennan 1-2, W. O’Connor 0-3, J. Dermody 0-2, K. Egan, D. Ryall 0-1 each.
