What a wonderful day the U10 camogie girls had on Sunday last 10th Sept. We departed the pitch in Kilmanagh at 9.30am with an excited bus load of players, brothers, sisters, friends, Mammies and Daddies. Spirits were high as we travelled to Kilmacud Crokes to play a match, especially after our Intermediates had such glory in the All Ireland 7’s the day before. Well done!
Our U10’s played great and showed great pride in their St Brigid’s Jersey. Kilmacud Crokes treated us to a lovely spread and we thank them most sincerely for their hospitality. We headed for Croke Park then and despite the result, the girls loved the atmosphere and being part of the big day. They were so proud of Aisling Dunphy and we could see the hope in their eyes that they one day might also line out in the Kilkenny Jersey on All-Ireland Sunday. Aisling, you did us so proud, you played a great game. Also well done to Grace Delahunty and Ruth Purcell who had the honour of being flag-bearers to welcome the Kilkenny and Cork teams onto the pitch.
With spirits slightly dampened due to the result we headed for home. “St Brigid’s got talent” hit the microphone and we sang our hearts out the whole way home, a slight break for food in McDonald’s to finish the day.
I think it’s safe to say that a great day was had by all and girls, once again you did your club and your families very proud. Well done all!
