Report by Phil Maher
On the 23rd of April the mighty under 10’s played their first practice match of the year against The Rower and even though they showed signs of rustiness they did not fail to deliver and won confidently with a scoreline of 5-4 to 1-1.
Graigue Ballycallan panel are as follows; Shane Cody, Ben Young, Aidan Comerford, Donnacha Cleere, Sean McGrath, Cillian Hoyne, Elliot Teehan, Frank McCluskey, Paidí Egan, Eoghan Cahill, Robbie Tector, James O’Halloran, Tony Butler, Chris Mahoney and JJ Maher. Missing from the photo are Robbie Lynch and Issac Comerford.
They played 3 periods and never lost the lead from the first whistle to the last and with Ben Young producing a score line of 3-2 there was never any doubt that GBC were going to be hard to beat.
GBC were strong in defence throughout and with good performances from Aidan Comerford, Paidí Egan and goalie Sean McGrath, keeping the Rower attack at bay.
The mid-fielders worked hard to keep a constant supply to the likes of Elliot Teehan, Tony Butler and Chris Mahoney who in return never gave up.
The match was killed off in the third period by two fine goals from both JJ Maher and Sean McGrath respectively.
This win is a nice way to start off the year and reward all the lads for the hard work that they put in in Wallslough in the spring and I’ve no doubt the summer looks good for the boys in blue.
