On Monday evening 11/5/2015 GBC U10 White Team welcomed James Stephens to Kilmanagh. In a very entertaining game both sides deserve great credit for their display of hurling skills and determination. GBC opened the scoring with points from Jake O’Brien, Billy O’Neill and Jeff Neary. James Stephens responded with a goal before the industrious Jeff found the net twice.
Martin Brennan was solid in goal and his long puck-outs launched many attacks where James Brennan, Cillian Hoyne and Dean O’Brien worked hard keeping the James Stephens backs under pressure. Half time score GBC 2-6 James Stephens 2-3.
The second half saw the visitors draw level with a goal in the opening minutes and from there to the end we were treated to a committed performance from both sides. Tackles were tough and no-one was found wanting. Points were exchanged but great goals from Jeff and Billy saw the boys come out on top on a 4-11 to 3-5 score line. Throughout the match Sean Roberts anchored the defence and scored a couple of great points. He was ably assisted by Pat Purcell, Sean McGrath and Jake O’Brien who valiantly defended throughout. In Midfield Billy O’Neill, Ryan Cody and Sean Dillon worked tirelessly and kept the ball moving forward. Well done boys on a great performance, next Saturday we travel to Danesfort.
