Report by Philomena Brennan:
After a good start to the Roinn A League campaign the local boys entertained Thomastown in Tom Ryall Park, Kilmanagh on Monday 13th April last. GBC playing with the assistance of a very strong breeze stunned the Thomastown defence with a well taken goal from Sean Ryan shortly after the throw in. This seemed to set the tone for the first half as the boys did not allow Thomastown to settle on the ball for any period of time in this first half.
With Jesse Roberts and Killian Egan commanding the midfield area and the six backs dealing admirably with the Thomastown forwards, the GBC attack got on top. They built up a good lead, with scores from Sean Ryan, Ciarán Hogan, Jesse Roberts, Conor Flynn and the young Oisín Egan.
Half-time Score: GBC 1-12 Thomastown 0-4
The expected Thomastown back-lash came, as they, now aided by the aforementioned breeze started their comeback. Three goals from the visitors cut into the GBC lead but a great goal from Oisín Egan and points from Sean Ryan and Aaron Brennan saw GBC go on to record their second victory.
