Graigue Ballycallan under 16’s began the 2015 season in style with a convincing win over Mooncoin in the first round of the Roinn A league. The Kilmanagh side were quickest out of the blocks racing into a 3 point lead, with scores coming from James Everard and Sean Ryan(2) before Mooncoin levelled, punishing a moment of indecision in the GBC defence.
However, a late flurry saw the lads score five unanswered points through Tommy Ronan, Jesse Roberts, another two from Ryan and a peach of a score from Ciaran Hogan after some brilliant work by James Everard, sending GBC in at half time leading by 0-8 to 0-3.
Graigue Ballycallan upped the tempo in the second half; two quick points from Sean Ryan were followed up by a goal from wing back Tommy Ronan, who, after fielding a high ball sent it in goalward to see it find it’s way into the back of the Mooncoin net. Additional scores from Jesse Roberts(3), Sean Ryan(2), Tommy Ronan and Aaron Brennan effectively finished the game as a contest, ensuring victory for Kilmanagh on a score line of GBC 1-21 to Mooncoin 1-06.
