St. Brigid’s u-14 camogie team took part in the Feile 2014 Competition on Saturday 19th April in Tom Ryall Park Kilmanagh. St. Brigid’s were in the Roinn B group and were joined by Rower Inistioge, Freshford and Naomh Brid.

The girls kept their focus on winning a place in the semi-final and won on a scoreline of 3-4 to Naomh Brid 1-3.
They showed great team work, determination and skill throughout all three matches to earn their place in the semi-final.
The Feile B semi-final took place on Saturday 3rd May in Clara GAA grounds. St. Brigid’s were drawn against Mooncoin and then Emeralds and O’Loughlins faced each other in the second semi-final.
In the first half the girls tackled well and kept the pressure on. They also had most of the possession but the scores were yet to come. In the second half the girls focused on the win and came out fighting for scores.
They started to play together as a team and the goals and points came to give them a convincing win 6-2 to 1-1 and a place in the final against Emeralds.
County Feile Final: St. Brigid’s v Emerald’s
With the breeze in St.Brigid’s favour and the the rain easing up, the St. Brigid’s players exploded into action with three points in as many minutes, blasted over the bar. The fantastic half and full forward line didn’t stop at that and went on to dominate the game for most of the first half. The spirit and drive of the Emerald’s team kept them going in this tough match. However, St. Brigid’s dynamic defenders solidly held their position and prevented any score in the first half.
The score line read 1-5 to 0-0 in St.Brigid’s favour going in to the second half which drove the St.Brigid’s players to put on an amazing display of team effort and co-operation. The midfield duo worked perfectly together sending the ball forward. Gallant ground hurling from the half back and full back line prevented any score attempt becoming a serious threat. Emeralds were not giving up though, and relentlessly came back trying to score. One of those attempts resulted in a sliotar going straight for the goal but was saved by the well trained and reactive St. Brigid’s goalie.
With tired legs and aching bodies, the St. Brigid’s girls continued the team work resulting in more scores on the board. The superb subs came on with equally gutsy performances which resulted in a full time score line of 3-7 to 0-0.
The entire panel of players played an equal part in securing the win for St. Brigid’s. The team are now in the prestigious position of representing Kilkenny in the National Feile Competition in Ulster in June.
A huge congratulations to the girls and best of luck to all involved.
