Last Monday evening Graigue Ballycallan Minors took on St. Martin’s of Muckalee in the Kilkenny Honda Centre Roinn B League Final in Dunmore
The locals got off to a quick start with two points on the board in the first few minutes. St. Martin’s were a strong physical team and let the locals know they were there to give them a game and soon equalised. It was an evenly contested game until Muckalee struck for a well-taken goal shortly before the water break.Graigue Ballyallan came in at the water-break trailing by 4 points. From this pointy on the locals defensive efforts were flawless led by Conor Walton and Billy Dowling on the half-back line with all six backs playing excellent until the final whistle. Billy O’Neill and Jeff Neary were strong at midfield.
Graigue Ballycallan clawed it back point by point and by the second water break had taken a healthy lead. From here on they pulled away point by point to finish up winning on a scoreline of 19 points to 1-8 after a hard fought battle.
Ryan Corcoran led the attack in the comeback with a lot of hard work done by Jake O’Brien and Billy Egan on the half forward line with huge efforts made by the six up front as the first line of defence
Focus now turns to championship which will start next Wednesday with an away game to Thomastown. Congratulations to the boys and best of luck to the team for the rest of the season
