The Junior A team continued their winning campaign last Friday 3rd May when they travelled South to take on Carrickshock in Hugginstown. With the return of a couple of players from injury and illness numbers were good and GBC went into the match with confidence. This confidence looked somewhat premature as it was Carrickshock who had the much better start. They quickly built up a 1-3 to 0-2 lead before GBC settled down. With each side matching one another score for score it was not a surprise that the teams went in at half time all square on a score of 1-9 each.
GBC were first off the mark in the second half and as the third quarter approached started to get into their stride and were rewarded with a flurry of scores. With the half back line, led by Richard Keoghan in command, the good delivery of ball to the forwards was not wasted and with Jason Dermody in particular, in flying form GBC were in control. GBC ran out eventual winners and kept their clean sheet intact. Next game will be on Friday 10th May in Kilmanagh where they will meet Erin’s Own.
FT: GBC 1-21 Carrickshock 1-14.
Scores: J.Dermody 1-10 (5fs), W.O’Connor 0-4, A.O’Brien 0-3, V.Teehan , S.Keoghan 0-02 each.
