After a 15 year drought, our Intermediate Camogie team have won the County Final in the same year the club is 40 years old. What an achievement! They took on Clara in the MW Hire Training Centre in Dunmore on Sunday 8th October. After a thrilling battle the final score was St. Brigid’s 1-13 Clara 1-11. Well done to all the girls and management who have worked so hard this year to get to where they are. Well done also to Eimear Keoghan who was presented with the Player of the Match award also.
The girls celebrated firstly by bringing the new silverware into Nowlan Park to support the boys in their Semi Final where the most memorable day was made even better with a win for the hurlers who are now through to the County Final in 2 weeks. They then went onto Springhill for a celebratory meal and then came home to Kilmanagh in the back of two blue pick ups with bonfires raging at the creamery and a march to the clubrooms with the supporters and the Ballycallan Fife and Drum Band. The homecoming in the pitch was just fantastic and we would like to thank everyone who helped to organise it. We would like to thank everyone who supported the girls over the whole weekend, to the sponsors and to those who came to the game and celebrated with us. A special thanks to Brennans and Ryans for having us on the night and also to St. Aidan’s National School for letting us show off our new silverware on Monday morning.
We come from a fantastic little parish and we are so proud of everyone. Match report & plenty of photos to follow.
Best of luck to the girls who now take on Myshall of Carlow in the AIB Leinster Club Championship Quarter final. The match throws in at 12 noon this Sunday 15th October in Kilmanagh. Please support the girls!!
