Registration for this years Whistle4Feile is open to over 18’s. Details below. Please contact Anne Ging or Carmel Brennan for registration.
The National Feile na nGael competition is a special competition for both host and travelling clubs, for the under 14 players and mentors alike. In 2017 the competition will be held in Kilkenny, Wexford and Carlow.
The Whistle4Feile programme is about providing the training and the mentorship so referees can learn and grow and continue refereeing for camogie beyond the Feile competition in June. Of course referees will need to be of an appropriate standard to referee at the National competition and we will do all we can to provide the training and guidance to achieve this for all involved.
Once people come through the training and mentorship programme and are deemed strong enough to referee at Feile I hope to approach the host counties to talk about hosting referees from outside counties who are willing to travel and referee for the weekend.
Step 1 of the programme: Everyone will complete the referee Foundation course which is 5.5 hours long. Dates of courses are listed below.
Step 2 of the programme: Referees will be given opportunities to put what they learn into practice at underage blitzes in their own locality/counties. Referees will have access to a mentor who will help them along in this process. This will take place over a number of months.
Step 3 of the programme: Referees deemed capable of refereeing in the National competition will meet again to go through Feile specific rules and schedule for the weekend and where they will be based etc.
Dates for the referee courses are as follows:
Saturday Jan 21st- Dublin (11am-4.30pm)
Saturday Jan 28th- Wexford (10am-3.30pm)
Friday Feb 17th- Kilkenny (6pm-11.30pm)
Venues within each of the counties are being finalised at moment.
