Report by Adrian Ronan
After 7 weeks of a break for exams the Minors faced a busy July. Like all clubs at this time of year, battling and coping with the long-term break and players on holidays becomes an issue.
We in Graigue-Ballycallan are no different so with some niggling injures and players on holidays we faced a nervous July.
First match v Lisdowney was 28th June in Lisdowney.
After a very entertaining match where both sides gave their all Lisdowney sneaked a victory on a scoreline of 14pts to GBC 1-10.
Hitting 16 wides over the hour wasn’t a help to GBC but nonetheless a return to action for this group was welcomed.
Team: Bill Cuddihy, Luke O’Brien, Tom Dunphy, Evan Walsh, Tommy Ronan, Conor Flynn, Jesse Roberts, Killian Egan, Colum Prendiville, Aaron Brennan, Ciaran Hogan, Peter Murphy, Alan Corcoran, Dylan Lanigan & Sean Ryan.
5th Round v James Stephens in Kells Rd 5th July
Village 1-19 GBC 1-7
With high expectations of competing against the Village this turned out to be a bad day at the office. A match that never came to life for GBC we struggled all over the field.
However sometimes in defeat you learn more so hopefully this will be the case for all players and mentors involved.
