Report by Phil Maher
Graigue Ballycallan U10’s travelled to O’Loughlin Park on Thursday 12th May to play their third competitive match and in what turned out to be hard fought win against an O’Loughlin’s team who were spoilt for choice in the amount of lads that they could field.
This win was at the back of a heavy defeat the previous week from a well-structured Dunnamaggin side who came up to Kilmanagh on Thursday 5th May. But a point worth noting was that GBC were leading and in cruise control for the first period when both teams had to play ground hurling as they held their shape, kept play moving and allowed the ball to do all the work.
An impressive scoreline by the boys in blue of 5 – 8 was achieved against O’Loughlin’s and the bulk of them were got from the sharp shooters Ben Young, Elliot Teehan and Tony Butler. What was more impressive was the work rate of the team and discipline shown by every player from start to finish which kept the crowd on their toes to the final whistle.
The team were as follows: Shane Cody, Ben Young, Aidan Comerford, Donnacha Cleere, Sean McGrath, Cillian Hoyne, Elliot Teehan, Frank McCluskey, Paidi Egan, Eoghan Cahill, Robbie Tector, James O’Halloran, Tony Butler, Chris Mahoney, JJ Maher, Robbie Lynch and Issac Comerford.
Credit to all the boys and coaches as big achievements can only be got from hard work and team effort. Lastly congratulations and best wishes to all the boys that made their First Holy Communion on Saturday.
