Graigue Ballycallan 6-17 Conahy Shamrocks 0-2
The Graigue Ballycallan U-14s recorded their first win of the league on their second outing in Jenkinstown on Monday last. Their opponents were Conahy Shamrocks. GBC played with a stiff breeze in the first half and quickly built up a lead, which they would not relinquish for the entire game.
With the backs on top and midfield sending in an amount of balls to the forwards, the boys settled well, taking several good scores. Killian Egan was in top form contributing a total of 2-3 in the first half. He was well supported by the hard-working Finn Lanigan, Lee Ronan and Oisin Egan. Mid-way through the first half Lee Ronan won a penalty, which Aaron Brennan scored. Half-time score GBC 4-7 Conahy Shamrocks 0-0.
In the second half GBC went from strength to strength. The defence dealt admirably with any attack from Conahy with Adam O’Brien, Eoin Delahunty and Simon O’Dwyer in fine form. The mid-field pairing of Stephen Keoghan and Aaron Brennan were delivering good ball to the forwards, who turned up the pressure, scoring a total of 2-10 in the second half.
The final result GBC 6-17 to 0-2.
The next outing will be against the Rower-Inistioge.
