Graigue Ballycallan 3-19 Conahy Shamrocks 4-16
On Saturday evening in Jenkinstown GBC played Conahy Shamrocks in the Junior A hurling league. Graigue played with the breeze and scored 1-4 in the first 13 minutes. Conor Murphy set up Willie O’Connor for the first goal and minutes later Jason Dermody for the second. Willie O’Connor struck goal again on 20 minutes and Adrian Burke scored two good long range points to leave the half time score GBC 3-9, Conahy 2-6.
The second half was barely two minutes old when Conahy scored a well worked goal. PJ Pollard denied them a goal with a fine save on 7 minutes, but Conahy piled on the pressure and banged home their fourth goal, ten minutes in. Conor Murphy kept GBC in touch with five points from frees and John Purcell added two from play. The sides traded alternate points until the final whistle sounded and the spoils were shared, GBC 3-19, Conahy 4-16.
This was a spirited display from both sides and a fair result in the end.
